Nadeem Hanif Bhatti, M.D. is a Diplomate of the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology, and he has been active in the teaching and practice of psychiatry in a range of settings over the past twenty years. He is a native of Pakistan, where he was received his general certificate of education from Cambridge University, U.K. (1987); his undergraduate education at the F.G. Sir Syed College (1989); and completed his medical studies at Ayub Medical College (1996). During his psychiatric residency years at Texas Tech, he published and presented on a variety of topics in adult and child psychiatry, and he was honored by the Department of Psychiatry for clinical excellence in psychotherapy.
He has an extensive interest in transcultural psychiatry and a special emphasis on service to minority populations. He also has extensive clinical experience in treating children and adolescence in ADHD , mood disorders, pervasive developmental disorders. His current main focus is biological treatment with medications and equally emphasizes the importance in therapy plus psychosocial services for the indigenous populations. He has published case reports as well as experience in identifying, collecting data in research studies. Dr. Bhatti’s clinical experience during the past ten years has focused on community psychiatry, including work in consultation-liaison, forensic psychiatry, and patient care in both inpatient and outpatient settings.
In addition to his love of teaching, he has extended his skills to include medical directorships and leadership roles in public and private settings. As a physician working in underserved areas, he acquired valuable experience not only in general psychiatry, but also in the diagnosis and treatment of serious mental illness, substance use disorders, and emergency care of psychiatric patients. He is skilled in the treatment of patients across the lifespan, having treated children as well as geriatric patients in addition to his inpatient and outpatient work with adults.
Beyond his dedication to psychiatric medicine, Dr. Bhatti is both a world traveler and a sports fan, with cricket and lawn tennis lending an international flavor to his enjoyment of games. Fluent in 3 languages, Dr. Bhatti brings to his work a perspective that transcends boundaries and imbues him with the awareness that psychiatry as a profession is a force that can change lives, and change the world.
